ANGER in Poetry

Jul 17, 2024

Mastering anger means giving less rises to its different disguises – exploding or imploding. Instead, healthy expression awakens us to our desires, regulates worries, and identifies boundaries.

Anger is a gift to keep us changing
Or a poison, our cells and relationships deranging
Imploding or exploding, preferably not
Growth and benevolence is our sweet spot

There is nothing like a good storm
For clearing what is becoming deformed
Sweeping the spent leaves and dust
Allowing us to rebuild, new trust

A storm clears the past
Sometimes feeling like a powerful blast
Silent and seething or sneerful
Leaving us feeling drained or fearful

Exploding, loud and harsh
Imploding, creating that eggshell path
The storm of anger has different disguises
To mastery your own means you give less rises

Anger brings gifts, coming harshly or quickly
When someone or something is shifty
Of danger, resistance or what lights our fire
The places where we’re holding back our desires

These gifts hold gold and much opportunity
Anger can help us build connection and community
When courage is gathered and activated
Healthy expression of anger is created

Awakening and alerting us to necessary change
Identifying what needs to release or be rearranged
Regulating our worries, feeding our desires
Identifying boundaries, weak, strong, or just not entire

Judging our anger and making it wrong
Keeps us from our freedom and joyous song
Feeds the festering sores in relationships, body and mind
Break loose of the patterns to quickly find

The gifts that your or their anger brings
Learn once again your joy to sing
Come back from miseries brink
“It is so often not what you think”

Anger keeps us moving on our pathway
Moving away from the blockages or the fray
Expressing ourselves in healthy ways means we can grow
To move towards our deepest desires and flow

Through healthy expression
You’ll soon stop self and others berating
Every area of your life will flourish
You and your relationships to nourish
